Region 5
Our region meets only once a year because of the distance between our dioceses and our shrinking budgets. Our structure mirrors USCCB’s provincial divisions. Each state province has additional face-to-face gatherings.
The four provinces each discern a person to serve on the regional leadership team. It includes Christina Theriot of Alexandria, chair; Catherine Mensi of Memphis, treasurer; Bragg Moore of Biloxi, secretary; and Carole Goodwin of Louisville, representative to the NFCYM Board of Directors.
We have a mentoring process for new diocesan directors. Once a new director is appointed, their provincial representative contacts them. The new director also is welcomed by the region’s representative to the NFCYM Board of Directors.
If possible, a neighboring diocesan director visits the new director to explain the workings of NFCYM and our regional structure. That mentor serves as a companion to the new director. We encourage the new director to attend NFCYM’s New Diocesan Director Institute and the next province and regional meetings.
Our mentoring process will be active this year. Each of our provinces should have one or two new directors!
