Publishing Management Committee
New Resources for Girls Scouts Camp Fire
At the membership meeting in
Austin in January, the Publishing
Management Committee reviewed
two long-awaited resources from the
NCCGSCF Management Committee.
The author of The Spirit Alive
has completed her work and the
NFCYM is in the process of hiring
a development editor to put the
finishing touches in this document. We
anticipate making our final approval
during our annual review meeting,
this year to be held June 1-3
in Laurel, Maryland. The PMC
approved the Religious Recognition
Moderator Training Manual,
with minor editorial changes. The
document was already in its laid out
version, so we should be seeing this
resource in print (and on the NFCYM
website) very soon. The Family of
God, has been transliterated into
Spanish, and the new bilingual
edition is getting updated cover
art, graphics, and color by graphic
artists Mike and Tina Wenke (Fr.
Len is Mike’s brother) and should be
published soon.
Other Items of Interest
The 2005 Youth Ministry Resource
Manual is taking shape, with its
theme “Spirit of God: Source and
Strength.” Co-editors Mike Theisen
and Vikki Shepp are working with
authors and writing sessions in order
to meet the deadline of approval at
our June meeting, as they do every
year. I can never say enough to
thank this task group for their work
or enough about the importance
of recommending it to all the youth
ministry leaders whom we serve.
We were happy to welcome new
members Terri Barnett and Patrick
Mooney to the committee in January,
but due to an unexpected job
change, Terri will no longer be able
to serve on the PMC, leaving us
once again to the task of recruiting
new members. Please pass on any
names of people you think would be
good as either committee members
or occasional advisors/task group
members to Kathy Carver or me. We
send wishes for a happy spring and
smooth publishing waters to all our
colleagues!
