The Leadership Team for the National Association of Catholic Youth Ministry Leaders (NACYML) is preparing for the launch of the association at the December National Conference on Catholic Youth Ministry (NCCYM). This preparation is focused in four key areas.
Firstly, NACYML is inviting youth ministry leaders to be a charter member. Currently, this invitation is being presented on the NFCYM web page and in the NCCYM brochure. In September, a packet of information on NACYML and charter membership will be available for diocesan leaders on the NFCYM I-net. This information may be used either in a regular mailing or at a diocesan youth ministry gathering. As of mid-August, 121 youth ministry leaders had joined NACYML.
Secondly, the Leadership Team is developing Standard Operating Procedures for the association. The key areas for SOPs are: decision-making; leadership team; membership; standing committees; and website.
The third area of preparation is the events at NCCYM. NACYML will hold its first gathering of membership at NCCYM as a pre-conference event. The gathering will be held on Thursday, December 2 from 2:00 P.M. - 3:30 P.M. The gathering will offer NACYML membership an opportunity to begin to give input into the work of the association. All NACYML charter members are invited to the gathering. NACYML will also host a booth at the conference. Information on the association will be provided in both English and Spanish and new members will be able to join on site.
Finally, the Leadership Team is working to have the services of the association up and running by December. These services include the NACYML member website and the quarterly e-newsletter.
